Well - after a bit of searching, we've found our princess. Watch out New Zealand, we're about to terrorize your roads!!
1992 Mazda Familia w 180,000km. $2K NZD (probably a bit over-priced but we actually had to fight the competition for this one and didn't want to screw around for any longer looking for a vehicle!) The previous owner is a mechanic so here's hoping she'll last! He gave her some TLC before handing her over.

What a beauty... it looks very familia to me for some reason :) Great photo! It's hard to tell if it's a wagon or not... is it?
ReplyDeletehopefully u dont have to kiss her to get her started
ReplyDeleteand let the adventures begin!
ReplyDeleteDo you have to let it warm up for 10 minutes before it goes into gear?
ReplyDeleteNice side mirrors, 3/4th the way up the hood that makes blue car look like a hot rod.
ReplyDeleteHope she's still your 'snow white' & going well for you. Time for an update! where are you?
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are presenting Cathy's boobs more than the car! Good luck driving on the wrong side of the road. The car is a beaut.

Haha - I was Matt.
ReplyDeleteYou won't believe the number of similarities to blue car... have to put the shifter down into "2" instead of "D" or she won't go into gear. Have to let it warm up for a while (not quite 10 minutes) and she makes a funny noise when you turn her... uncanny resemblance. :)
I also like to think of the mirrors as dwarf ears... she's "special" to say the least. Although as Cathy pointed out she's been fantastic... we put her through the ringer on our trip up Coromandel Peninsula and she came out unscathed (as far as we know!).
Yes Tyler, she's a wagon. Lots of room for you and Nat!
Adios - time to go surfing!
That car looks EXACTLY like the car we bought from a mechanic in NZ 5 years ago. Hmmm, very suspicious. If/when she overheats, just throw some snow on the engine - works every time :)
